Sixty-nine years of other people's furniture.

Three generations of the Martin family, one workroom on Medical District Drive, and a great deal of work that leaves here under somebody else's name.

What we doFour departments
  1. 01

    Residential

    Sofas · chairs · ottomans · antiques

The sofa you love, made new — or made from scratch to fit the room you actually have. A fair number of pieces come back to us having been upholstered here the first time.

  2. 02

    Restaurants & Hospitality

Booths · banquettes · bar stools · hotel rooms

Contract-grade work built to survive a dining room rather than a living room. Whole banquette runs, or one booth that took a beating.

  3. 03

    Beds & Headboards

    Headboards · surrounds · benches

Upholstered headboards, full bed surrounds and matching benches, made to your dimensions rather than to a catalogue's.

  4. 04

    Medical & Healthcare

Exam tables · treatment chairs · waiting rooms

We are in the Medical District for a reason. Wipe-clean, spec-compliant vinyl for clinics, treatment rooms and waiting areas.

The house

Started by Ray Martin Sr. Still run by a Martin.

Ray Martin Sr. opened M&M Upholstery in 1957 and taught the trade to his son, Ray Martin Jr. It has stayed in the family ever since — the shop is owned today by Sarah Martin, Ray Jr.'s daughter-in-law.

Nearly seventy years in one trade, at one address, in the middle of the Design District. Long enough that a good deal of what comes back through the door was upholstered here the first time, by someone whose name is on the sign.
