What we do
Reupholstery, custom builds, cushion replacement and frame repair — in leather, fabric and vinyl. We work for homeowners, interior designers, restaurants, hotels, corporate offices and medical practices, and have done since Eisenhower was president.
The sofa you love, made new — or made from scratch to fit the room you actually have.
Booths, banquettes and bar stools built to survive a dining room, not a living room.
Upholstered headboards, bed surrounds and benches, made to your dimensions.
We're in the Medical District for a reason. Exam tables, treatment chairs and waiting rooms.
In the news
Most people have never heard of us, which is rather the point — our work usually turns up under someone else's name. Occasionally it turns up on a cover.

Dallas–Fort Worth's home and garden magazine. The furniture is ours; the byline, as usual, is somebody else's.

When a show-house designer needs upholstery that will be photographed from every angle, this is where it gets made.

"M&M Upholstery gives furniture a new look." Thirty-four years ago, and the address hasn't changed.
Whether we are reupholstering an old piece of furniture or upholstering an entire hotel, we treat each individual with the utmost respect.Ray Martin Sr., founder — The Dallas Morning News, 14 October 1992
The quickest way to a price
You don't need to load a sofa into a truck to find out what it costs. Photograph it — the whole piece, plus anything that's torn, sagging or broken — and we'll tell you what it needs.
The work
Every photograph here is a piece that came through our own workroom.
Since 1957
Ray Martin Sr. opened M&M Upholstery in 1957 and taught the trade to his son, Ray Martin Jr. It has stayed in the family ever since — the shop is now owned by Sarah Martin, Ray Jr.'s daughter-in-law.
Nearly seventy years in one trade, at one address, in the middle of the Design District. Long enough that a fair number of the pieces coming back through the door were upholstered here the first time.
